There are lots of areas an Architect can help you with. Below we’ve listed the architectural services in order of how a project may work.
An Architect will first assess what is and isn’t possible for your project by researching the area, history and the land (with or without existing structures). They can provide services such as Planning Drawings, Exterior 3D Visuals, Design & Access Statement, Layout Plans, Floor Plans and Conceptual Designs to start bringing your project alive. Your Architect may also be able to advise on Interior Design.
In may cases your Architect will be able to help with the Planning Application and when your planning application has been approved they will start on the technical design of the site. This allows the vision for the project to come alive. Technical Drawings & Designs form part of your Building Regulations application and need to be highly accurate drawings and specifications along with structural calculations.
At this stage your Architect would be able to supply Interior 3D Visuals and Tender Drawings & Specifications.
Your Architect will then be able to help with Project Management. They will be able to request quotes and tenders from reputable builders and trades people to be able to administer contracts to each supplier.
An Architect usually has a number of builders they work with on a regular basis who they have checked and approved to make sure the builder has the appropriate insurances, health and safety procedures and also the right skills to do the work.
Construction work can feel disorientating and be a difficult time which is why having an expert Architect to manage the project and who knows the processes is a great help.
